How Much Can the 2027 Hyundai Santa Fe Tow?
How much the 2027 Hyundai Santa Fe can tow depends on two things: which Santa Fe, and whether your trailer has its own brakes. With trailer brakes, the XRT is rated at 4,500 pounds, the other gas trims at 3,500 and the hybrid at 2,000.
Without trailer brakes, every Santa Fe is rated at 1,650 pounds. Here is what that means for a Nature Coast boat, camper or utility trailer.

2027 Hyundai Santa Fe Towing Capacity
The trailer-brake question matters more than most shoppers expect. A light utility trailer without brakes can stay within the 1,650-pound limit, but anything heavier calls for a trailer equipped with its own brakes before a Santa Fe can tow it at its higher rating.
With trailer brakes, the gas SE, SEL, Limited and Calligraphy are rated at 3,500 pounds, the XRT at 4,500 and the hybrid at 2,000, all when properly equipped. Hyundai sells the tow hitch and ball mount as accessories, and every Santa Fe is pre-wired for a trailer.

2027 Hyundai Santa Fe Towing & Performance Features
Trailer Sway Control is standard on every Santa Fe and helps settle a trailer that starts to wander. On gas models the turbo's 311 lb-ft does the pulling, and HTRAC, standard on the XRT, can feed up to half of it to the rear axle when a ramp is slick.
The XRT is the trim for heavier loads and softer ground. Its Terrain Mode includes snow, mud and sand settings, and its 8.3 inches of ground clearance and 21.8-degree departure angle help at a sandy ramp or a rutted campground entrance.

When the trailer stays home, the cargo area does the hauling. There are 14.6 cubic feet behind the third row; fold the third row into the floor and there are 40.5, and fold the second row too for 79.6.
Walk up with the key and the hands-free liftgate raises itself, an underfloor tray keeps smaller items secure, and roof rails on the SEL and above carry up to 220 pounds.
